While many mission organisations are involved in church-planting around the world, we are in the business of helping local groups reach out to their own communities via radio. In some places this means training radio producers who will use existing studios and stations; in others it means helping install an entire new station in a community, with all of the training , equipment and technical assistance needed.
Radio planting is one of our
fastest-growing ministries, as new stations have been installed and people have
been given training on every continent. Since 1990, more than 300 radio
stations have been planted in more than 40 countries. All of this work is done
in co-operation with local partners and the result has been the establishment
of Christian radio ministries throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, the South Pacific
and the Americas. The planted stations are locally run and independent of HCJB.
Our role is simply to support and equip them as necessary.
This is a key part of our strategy to use local broadcasts wherever possible - helping people within a culture reach their neighbours with the good news.
